Singing Brn. Creeper, Phoebe
|
3/30/05 It was a nice spring treat to hear a Brown Creeper singing while cross country skiing Valley Spur south of Munising this morning. Equally pleasant was watching an Eastern Phoebe spend much of the afternoon along the woods near my home. Hopefully, it will be able to survive the predicted cold front soon to hit the central U.P. Random Keweenaw Sightings
|
3/27/05 Not really Spring in the Copper Country, but some good birds around.
On Tuesday, I had 1 juvenile GOLDEN EAGLE on Bumbletown Hill, which is right on the Houghton and Keweenaw County line, after Kearsarge and before New Allouez. Take a left off of US41 onto a road that has a brown sign that says Bumbletown Hill. Travel the road all the way up to the Radio Towers and look from around there.
Yesterday at my parent's feeders in Ahmeek, I had one 1st Year Male HOARY REDPOLL. The Redpolls are starting to flock up pretty strongly in the area.
Today, on my way out of town, just south of Calumet, I had a flock of about 50 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS. Tom Auer |

Labarbe in Mackinac County, 3 Lesser Scaup and 8 Hooded Mergansers in the harbor in Manistique, both Common Grackle and Red-winged Blackbird along U.S. 2 and a pair of Sandhill Cranes on St Nicholas road in the south-east corner of Marquette County. ~Skye Haas |
